hello all, first, a merry christmas to everybody :-) the a188/1 is a very exciting module, especially because it is not limited to standard flanger, chorus or reverb effects. i have prepared some examples, recorded directly from the output jack of the prototype (using a 1024 stages bbd ic). sorry for the brief descriptions. oh well, it's christmas... :-) 1. karplus-strong synthesis, based on the example patch as published on the doepfer homepage. this is an example for plucked sounds. http://www.selfoscillate.de/a100files/a188-1-karplus-pluck.mp3 file size: 195 kb 2. a single a110 sawtooth through the a188/1, delay time modulated by a triangle lfo. http://www.selfoscillate.de/a100files/a188-1-sawplus.mp3 file size: 210 kb 3. a single a110 squarewave through the a188/1, no delay time modulation, but obscure parameter values ;-) http://www.selfoscillate.de/a100files/a188-1-spooky.mp3 file size: 301 kb 4. this is a self-oscillating a188/1, the module gets no audio input. the delay time is modulated by an a149/1. http://www.selfoscillate.de/a100files/a188-1-selfplay.mp3 file size: 295 kb 5. now my favorite. a drum pattern coming from a tr808 is fed into an a119 and from there into the a188/1. the a119 env output is fed into the a188/1 cv in 2. both delay time and cv 2 polarizer knobs were slowly adjusted by hand during recording, to give an idea of the sonic potential. in the beginning it sounds like flanging, with decreasing clock frequency it falls into a mixture of granular synthesis and bit-reduction. the signal seems to fall apart and then rebuilds under rhythmic control of the 808 signal level. halfways through the recording the a188/1 audio input attenuator is turned further clockwise for some overdriven sounds. http://www.selfoscillate.de/a100files/a188-1-follow-the-808.mp3 file size: 2110 kb have fun everybody :-) best wishes ingo
